3 point lighting:

In three point lighting the key light is the most influential and the most brightest, its also the strongest and the color and angle of the key light determines the shots overall light design and outcome. This is why it has the name key light. The backlight helps counteract the effects of

the key light, its most normally from behind the subject or sometimes can be to one side or the other, it makes the figure look more rounded and creates a rim of light. The filler light helps to soften the hard shadows created by the back and key light and there may be more than one filler light depending on how harsh the shadow is. When combining all of the key light, back light and filler light you get a full and professional effect.
Fundamental lighting styles:
Some fundamental lighting styles include: High key, Low key, Hard light and soft light.
High key lighting means there is lots of light.

some other fundamental lighting styles include: Naturalism, Realism, Pictorialism and expressionism.
Naturalistic lighting means that the source of light is real and non-artificial like the sun.

Realistic lighting means that the light is artificial but is made to look real.

Pictorial lighting means that the source of light is artificial but is made to look glamourous.

Expressionistic lighting means that the source of light is artificial but is made to look artistic.

analyse the lighting

The lighting in this shot is very subtle at the front of the characters. The front of the characters appears to have a low lighting effect as some features of the characters are more dim than others due to the light that's behind them. The lighting in the background is more aggressive and bright than the front of the shot and is creating a rim around the characters as its a strong backlight that's creating the look of an outline around the characters. The lighting of this shot also emphasises the smoke coming of of the lady's cigarette. By the was that the shot looks I can see that the light has been placed behind them to create this effect other lights may be placed around the set but its obvious that there isn't and aggressive or hard lighting placed in front of the characters.

The lighting of this scene is soft lighting as the light is not to harsh. The lighting is very minimal and subtle but is their enough to make sure the scene isn't to dark. The lighting makes it seem like the character is in a room with light coming onto the side of his face by a window or maybe a lamp.
In this scene in the short film All Too Well the use of soft lighting creates a subtle and warm feel to the scene showing that the character is sad. And the use of the lighting lights her face up as shes crying to emphasise her sadness. Overall the tone of the lighting in the scene is a red and orange theme witch also shows warmth and autum like aspects that show the time of year that the film is based around.
