What makes a good visual design?
To make a good and effective visual design I think its important to try and make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible by combining layout, colours and design. To have good visual design its also important to include a colour scheme and not have to many colours that will make the design confusing or to complex and makes it visually pleasing to look at and isn't to aggressive. When looking at a design its easy to see if you find it appealing or not so the visual design needs to create a good first impression by having good colours and an obviously understandable layout. The font also has a big part in visual design as it has to be nice to read and needs to be understandable and not confusing. If a font is complex and overlaps with other words its going to be annoying to look at and hard to understand.

Layout: The use of this visual design shows different movies on different scales that show if there worth watching, the rating on IMDB and how much gross profit they have made worldwide. For the layout I think its a bit confusing as the triangles used are all different shapes and sizes and its a bit all over the place. The use of the graph shows that its possibly about statistics. the overall layout is quite messy though and isn't that visually pleasing as it is a quite confusing to look at and understand. for a good layout I think it should have some sort of arrangement that makes it less overwhelming to look at and figure out.
Font: I think the font of the visual design is overall aesthetically pleasing and is nice to look at. The one issue I do have is the smallest font is quite hard to read as there is a few words that overlap which makes it confusing to read. The larger fonts are more nice and calming to look at as they are not aggressive and in your face.
Colour: The colour of the visual design is very nice and pleasing to look at, the background is a nice blush pink and is subtle and calming and is not an aggressive colour so its nice to look at and the colours of the triangles match the theme of pink . The overall pastel look makes it relaxing.

Layout: The use of the visual design shows the different horoscopes around a wheel to show what characteristics those particular horoscopes have and what they would be described as. I think the layout is quite pleasing to look at and is not at all confusing as everything is shown to be organised and can be easily seen that each triangle is for a different thing. I think that the use of the wheel creates an easy to read layout as its easy to just follow round the wheel to read each segment.
Font: Overall I think the font is confusing as its hard to understand why some words are bigger and why some words are smaller and hard to read. The font on the outside of the wheel naming each star sign I think is nicer to read as it is the same font as the rest of the wheel but its not as confusing and its all one size and not aggressive and seems subtle and nice to read.
Colour: Overall I think that the colours of the visual design are quite boring but it does suit the star sign/astrology theme of a dark colour for the outer and inner rings on the wheel and a calming, welcoming beige for the larger segments of the design. But as an overall look its quite dull and there's not much exciting colour to it so its a bit depressing to look at.

Layout: The use of this visual design is to show how much renewable energy there is across the world in percentages. The layout of this visual design is pretty straight forward as it is just the world map. the use of the world map makes it easier though as then its easier to show the statistics for each different country and makes it accessible instead of having to possibly writing the country with a percentage next to it. using the world map creates an more interactive and entertaining look.
Font: Overall the font is pretty basic and is just mostly numbers which are a good enough size to read and is easy to see where they have been placed without any confusion as non overlap.
Colour: I really like how the use of colour is shown in this visual design as there is a colour code which is easy to understand why it has been put in place, the colours really work well with each other and compliment the dark background well as it creates a light and dark aesthetic which is not to harsh to look at and has a aesthetic look. The way that the pink and blues work well with the yellow and green looks really nice and is a pretty colour combination which makes the visual design easy to look at and is understandable on why each colour is where it is by reading the code.
I think overall the best visual design is the world map as its understandable includes nice colours and is easy to read. The other two visual designs are more confusing and harder to understand whilst the world map shows everything in an satisfying and easy to understand format
