Slug line- a slug line is always in capitals and has if the scene that's taking place is inside or outside (int/ext) it also includes the location and the time of day and whether the scene is moving or in one place eg a car.

Action- the action is a description of what's happening on screen and it is always written in the present tense and if your mentioning a characters name for the fist time it will be in capitals. When describing the action you also need to describe your characters if you have one and include a feel of who they are. capitalizing should also be used when there is important information like a gunshot. You also always need to include something between the slug line and dialogue even if its just a short sentence.

character name- a characters name should be in all capitals and centred when they are the person talking. If a character is speaking off screen put (O.S.) and if a character is doing a voice over put (V.O.)

dialogue- dialogue is in the centre as well and to help write in detail and as accurate to the voice if the character has an accent or speak in a specific way

parentheticals- parentheticals are used to block out a scene and describe what a character is doing whilst they are speaking

transitions- transitions are put at the bottom of the page and help end the scene or switch to a new scene some examples are:

Cut To: this is used when the scene cuts to the next and needs to be emphasised a little bit

Smash Cut To: this is used when the cut to the next scene needs to be dramatic and intensified

Intercut: this is used when there is a phone call between to people for example when they are cutting back and forth between there conversations.

Fade To Black: this is used to end the film or emphasise a slow transition

Over black: this is used to show where the screen goes completely black and has text written over it like "48 hours later"
