In the short film Operator the main characters are the operator herself and the lady on the other end of the phone. We find out that the lady who has phoned the operator was having a house fire and her child is stuck upstairs where the fire is. In the middle of the short film the lady decides to go upstairs to try and save her child from the fire which the operator tries to prevent her from doing but the lady goes through with her decision anyway, this creates a lot of tension and worry as after the lady goes up the stairs we can hear screaming coming from the phone and the operator is trying to talk to her but is getting no response. Then the lady finally replies and we find out that she manages to save her child from upstairs. The main problem in the short film is fire and time as it takes quite a long time for the fire engine to actually arrive at the house and whilst the firefighters are on the way, the operator is trying to calm the lady down by asking simple questions like what there names are, and we find out that their names are Gemma and the child is called Jaime. The conflict is also between the lady and the operator but the lady keeps interrupting or not listening to what the operator is trying to suggest to her to help throughout the short film. At the end of the film we find out that the firefighters have successfully made it to the house and they have made it inside. After the phone disconnects we see that the operator has a short breath and takes a very small moment to herself to relax and then its very short lived as a few seconds later she proceeds to answer the next call.
