what are the different qualities?

For the zoom mic the qualities are that the mic blocks out the background wind and sounds and has a high quality sound and can hear very easily what the sound is and if someone is speaking its easy to understand as its smooth and not being distracted by background noise. For the iPhone its mostly middle ground on quality as you can still hear some background noise but it doesn't overthrow the main sound that's being recorded, its still easy to hear what sound was being recorded without getting it mixed up within any noise that was unintentional. The camera sound recording had the least best quality as the wind and background noise overpowered anything that was trying to be recorded but if it were indoors it wasn't such an issue.

which one works best?

id say that the zoom miv worked best as the sound quality was very good and was easy to hear what was being intentionally recorded, the mic barley picked up any background noise and wasn't being overpowered by any wind or anything.

Are they better in different scenarios?

if your intentionally trying to pick up some background noise but doesn't over throw the main recording the iPhone is the best option for this as that is exactly what the iPhone recording can do. If you want a smooth crisp recording the zoom mic is the best as it blocks out any background noise and its perfect if your just trying to record one thing without added noise.

I would say that if you wanted the background noises and wind the camera is the best to film with as when your outside you can pick up all those sounds. The zoom mic works well inside and outside if you want the sound your filming to be un interrupted by background sounds. The phone is good for inside or outside filming as it can pick up background noise but without over throwing what is being recorded.
